Active Duty Military and Substance Use Disorders

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), substance abuse problems occur frequently in the military, but fear of repercussions, stigma, and mandatory drug testing can discourage active-duty members from seeking help.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) helps adults (18+) find recovery through a variety of treatment modalities designed to improve our clients' overall quality of life during sobriety. Treatment consists of group and one-on-one therapy.

Our staff, led by Operations manager Jay Wylie, a 22-year Naval Veteran (pictured, right), understands "the warrior ethos" that is ingrained into our service members during basic training and how it can actually make it hard to say "I need help."

Jay has himself been in recovery for well over a decade and is credited with making the outpatient rehabilitation program at Confidential Recovery very welcoming for veterans and first responders.

Scott is a high profile Family Crisis Coach, Interventionist, and has been helping people get sober and stay that way for almost 40 years. Scott has been honored by the City of San Diego which declared February 19th "Scott Silverman" Day due to his tireless efforts.

Meet Matt Ward - Confidential Recovery Intake Counselor

Matt, a seven-year Naval Veteran, brings several years of experience in substance abuse treatment and a personal connection to recovery. Having walked this path himself, he is passionate about helping others on their journey to healing. Matt is working toward becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

At Confidential Recovery, Matt oversees intakes and ensures clients have the support and resources they need to succeed. As the first point of contact for those seeking help, Matt offers a compassionate and informed approach to starting their recovery process.
