Confidential Recovery Featured on KUSI San Diego for Accepting Active Duty Military
Scott H. Silverman visited KUSI studios again to discuss military health benefits provider TRICARE's approval for Confidential Recovery to provide drug and alcohol rehabilitation to active military members.
"It's big news because we've had a major focus on veterans so we're honored and excited to provide these services to active duty members of the military," said Scott.
"Sometimes when you admit that you have an alcohol or a drug problem on the job, it can be a career killer, but the alternative is so much worse," says Scott. But thanks to HIPAA laws, members of our armed forces can contact Confidential Recovery directly and do not necessarily have to reveal to their military superiors* about the treatment they are receiving. Confidential Recovery has been servicing San Diego professionals for 10 years, including many high-profile doctors, lawyers, and others who value the privacy and confidential nature of the services offered.
Overcoming the Warrior Ethos and Asking for Help
Scott discussed "the warrior ethos" that is ingrained into our service members during basic training and how it can actually make it hard to say "I need help."
This is where the staff of Confidential Recovery's Operations Manager Jay Wylie, a 22-year Naval Veteran (pictured, right), becomes invaluable, because he (and the other veterans and active service members who are in treatment) can really 'speak the language' of the military and break through some of those mental barriers to accepting help.
"We'll meet you where you're at [in your recovery journey], we're located in Mission Valley and easy to find, we have sessions available during the day, night, and on weekends. Many sessions can be attended remotely via telehealth," said Scott

*Confidential Recovery would not share information with the service member's military command per HIPAA and Title 42 CFR, but TriCare would have a record of the services billed (if not the medical record). Confidential Recovery may have to share medical records with TriCare if asked for billing purposes as well. This might be something that would be accessible in a special duty screening, medical board, or security clearance check (though medical records are not normally reviewed for security clearances).
