Confidential Recovery CEO on KUSI San Diego to Announce Expanded Addiction Treatment for Active Duty Military

You can watch the entire segment from KUSI here.

CEO of Confidential Recovery Scott H. Silverman appeared on KUSI San Diego earlier this week to share the exciting news that the outpatient addiction rehab program he founded, Confidential Recovery, is now ‘ in network ’ with TRICARE (military) insurance, and therefore available to active duty military in San Diego. Confidential Recovery already has a  track record of serving the veteran population which numbers over 350,000 in San Diego,  so he is excited to see how many of the 150,000 active duty military they can also help. Scott was also very excited to add that Confidential Recovery can also help the family members were covered under the TRICARE policy.

What is Preventing our Military Members from Asking for Help

When asked what kind of challenges military service members face, Scott discussed the stigma of asking for help and reiterated that  when it comes to substance dependence, "it's okay to not be okay."

Scott encourages people to ask questions and get informed, which they can do by calling Confidential Recovery at  (619) 452–1200 for more information, and as Scott says, "if we can't help you with your problem we will send you somewhere that you can get help."

Also, when San Diego-based military members contact Confidential Recovery directly,  thanks to HIPAA laws, they do not  have to reveal to their military superiors* about the treatment they are receiving.

Potential Lessons from COVID Response

When discussing how we can respond to the addiction epidemic, Scott expressed hope that the government can utilize some of the same techniques that it did during the COVID pandemic, during which the government partnered with the private sector to help as many people s quickly as they could.

How to Get Help Today

Active duty military or their family members can get started by calling Confidential Recovery at 619-452-1200 to submit their TRICARE policy and learn their options for addiction treatment. They can expedite the process by submitting your TRICARE details to Confidential Recovery immediately here.

*Confidential Recovery would not share information with the service member's military command per HIPAA and Title 42 CFR, but TriCare would have a record of the services billed (if not the medical record). Confidential Recovery may have to share medical records with TriCare if asked for billing purposes as well. This might be something that would be accessible in a special duty screening, medical board, or security clearance check (though medical records are not normally reviewed for security clearances).
